Today I am going to explain what meditation exactly is, how it works and what its benefits are – so you can start meditating right after reading this.
What is Meditation
Meditation has been practiced for thousand of years. It is mostly used to deepen the understanding between the sacred and the mystical life. Meditation is a spiritual practice often used to find inner peace and a deeper meaning in your life, it is a great tool to reach a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind.
The thing about meditation is that you calm body and mind, then focus on just one certain thing. There are many ways to meditate, but the most common and well known form is sitting in silence and focusing on your breathe – it is a very mindful practice, teaching you to live in the moment and release fears and worries.
How does Meditation work
- Focused Intention
Find something to focus on: Scan your body, Pray, Music, Breathing, Image, Mantra. This will keep your mind from wandering around and is the thing that will calm you in the first place.
- Relaxed Breathing
It is important to breathe deep and to do this slowly, this will calm your mind and set the connection to your inner being. It may take you some time – it did for me. But after some practices you will recognize big improvement. Finally learning to breathe deep and slow is something that really changed a lot about myself and my life.
- Comfortable Position
You can be lying down, sitting or walking. Do what feels best for you – it is important that you feel comfortable, otherwise you won’t be able to calm your mind for long. You would always change your position, trying to get more comfortable – this is not what you should do whilst meditating. First find the Position, then start.
- Quit setting
Meditation won’t work if people are walking and talking around you. You need to focus on yourself 100% without anyone or anything being able to distract you from your meditation. So find a quit place where you feel at ease and make sure that no one and nothing is going to distract your for the next 10-20 minutes.get access to my free Resource Library!
