How to slay 2018
“If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan but never the goal.”
We’ve been talking about implementing Healthy Habits & creating the Vision for 2018.. but all of this will only work if we make a bulletproof plan on how to make this year the best year! As I already said many times: Your Vision is the foundation – but you still need to build the house. Nothing will change if you don’t take action. So making a plan and following it will be the crucial point when it comes to slaying 2018.
8 Steps to Plan your year:
1. Bullet Journal
I am using a Bullet Journal since last summer and I can honestly say – it changed my life! It is so nice to plan exactly the way you want to, use as much space as you need and design it how you like it. I’ve been experimenting with different kinds of organization inside of my Bullet Journal and I found a way that works just perfectly for me.
2. Yearly Spread
So for 2018 the first thing I did was creating a yearly spread. I just put the whole year onto one spread and designed a little calendar for the whole year. I wrote down every birthday I need to keep in mind, holidays and important appointment so that I have everything like this on one page. It helps a lot with planning presents & holidays early enough which results in less stress for you.
3. Monthly Spread
The next step is creating a monthly spread. I first make a list of every important appointment – doctor, birthdays, holidays. All the stuff you know in advance! This is just a little check list for you so you don’t forget about something. Then I like to write down my goals for this months & which habits I want to implement into my routines.
Something I have also been doing is planning my Blogposts one month in advance.. so at the beginning of every months I write down every upcoming Blogpost down into my monthly spread!
Basically setting my intention for the upcoming days! You can also create a little sleep or mood log, if you like.
4. Weekly Spread
You probably guessed it – next I am doing a weekly spread. Every Sunday I sit down, create a weekly spread and write down every appointment, birthday and what I already know needs to be done. I love planning my week ahead, it just makes me feel very organized. Every Morning I just have to look onto this spread and I know what is on my list that day, so easy & chilled! Obviously there are some things you can’t plan ahead or which come up on Wednesday evening – then I just add them where it fits!
A tool I love using additionally is the App Wonderlist. You can create different categories for each part of your life, adjust when they need to be ready.. etc. Very helpful if you want to check whats on your list while you are on the go, also perfect when something comes into your mind that needs to be done as soon as possible. It’s not a crucial part of my planning routine but still very supportive.
6. Goal Plan
Creating a Goal Planner is so important! First of all it gives you an overview about everything you want to accomplish, second it helps you decide which steps need to be made in order to arrive there, third it will help you be organized about your goal(s) and by that make sure that you actually reach them. You can make a Goal-Plan for your yearly, monthly and also weekly goals. How to exactly make one is described here (+ free printable).
This one is very similar to a Goal Plan. Whenever there is a new project I am working on I give it a name, describe what it really is & then plan the different steps I need to take. You can design your Project Planner like you design your Goal Planner or even put both into one Plan! It helps a lot to stay on top of everything that is on your plate + gives you a great overview which helps you to keep your focus.
This is such an important part of my planning routine! Without reflection, there won’t be any growth. Without reflection you will always be stuck. Reflecting should be one of your top priorities. Reflect on your year, your month and your week. Write down what went wrong, find out why this went wrong and then plan how you can change this + actually do it. This will take your growth to the next level.
Thank you so much for reading & have a lot of fun with your personal planning!
Lot’s of love, Sarah.
