3 Components of Motivation
In my research I found out that there are different components of Motivation, accomplishing all of them will help keep you going.
This is the part where you make the Decision. You want to do xyz to reach your goal xyz – and you are motivated to do this. Get clear about why you want to reach your goal and also about the importance your tasks contributes to this. Making a Decision is the first step on your path to staying motivated and actually reaching your goals.
This is the amount of effort you are willing to put into your task and goal. If the amount of effort you are willing to put into is very low the Intensity of your Motivation will not be high and will not last long, if it even comes up.
Perseverance is about how long you will be able to keep up your effort. At this point knowing your why is essential. If you do not know your why and are 100% sure about it you will at one point or another stop working because you do not know for what you are doing all this hard work. So keep in mind to first of all – get clear about your why, your purpose.
Now that we got clear about the 3 Components of Motivation I will tell show you the 2 different kinds of Motivation
This is the kind of Motivation that has it root inside of yourself. It is about why you want to do this for yourself. It is about how you keep yourself motivated with your thoughts – basically everything that is inside you and contributes to your Motivation is Intrinsic Motivation.
But there is always motivation coming from the outside. Maybe Friends and Family believing in you and supporting you. Also people who say you will not be able to reach your goal – people you want to prove wrong. Additionally your information intake, what are putting in your mind from the outside? On what are you spending your time? – These things than add up into Intrinsic Motivation in your Mind.get access to my free Resource Library!
Things that stop you from being motivated:
- Fear of Failure
- Boring tasks
- Too tired
- Don’t know where to start (overwhelmed)
- Too much to do
- Don’t know the why
- Wrong Priorities
Getting clear about why you are not motivated to do certain tasks is important to find a way out of it. Maybe the above named things are your reasons – maybe you got others. Sit down, think about it and write them down, then try to find ways to overcome them!
I am sure you now know the basic Science behind Motivation and to some point this already Motivated you to change something – it did the same for me!

- Stop comparing your progress to the progress of others
- Always try to be better than you were yesterday

- Always believe in yourself
- Don’t start with the Motivation – start with the doing
My Bonus Tip:
Something that is really important: JUST DO IT. I know – I know, you heard this a thousand times. But please, listen to me one last time! I also used to wait until I was motivated before I would start doing something. But this is complete bullshit. If there is something you know you need/want to do – just do it. Just start, get the f*ck out of your bed and start working for your dreams.
If you always wait until motivation knocks your door and asks in – you will never reach anything. Trust me when I say: Motivation will come when you start working, when you start seeing progress. The start will be hard, I know this so good, but it will get easier day by day and at one point Motivation will start to become your best friend each and every day.
If you don’t start you will never feel like changing something. “I just don’t feel like it today” – I honestly can’t here this anymore. If you really want something you go get it. You will never feel like doing it because you have to leave your comfort zone in order to do it – your mind will tell you “No, what are you doing?? Stay in the comfort zone.” Tell your mind to shut up and finally get sh*t done. Thank me later.
