You may not know this yet, but you have the ability to reinvent yourself, endlessly. That’s your beauty. – Lidia Yuknavitch
We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are. – Max Depree
I recognized many people are stuck in who they think they are. They don’t evolve nor develop themselves into who they truly want to be because of their imagination of who they are. Their sense of self becomes a limiting thought, a limiting believe which keeps them from going further.. thinking that their desired form of being is not possible.. thinking that any kind of evolving is not available for them.
I think of this as a big problem. How senseless would our life be if we were not able to change, to reinvent. Maybe today you love riding your bicycle, maybe today your fave thing to do is painting. But that doesn’t mean that you need to still like those things when you wake up tomorrow morning. More importantly: the loving of those things does not define who you are. Painting, riding your bicycle and any other passion you live is not who you are. Those are just things that found there way into your life. Things that hopefully add value to your life.
The problem I am talking about is that many people think they can’t start running because they are more of a bicycle person, they can’t start writing because they are more of a painting person.. those are just little things but they can go further into really big things. Don’t getting out of a relationship because they are so used to it that they think this relationship defines who they are, not quitting their job because they identify with it. They rather stay unhappy and unfulfilled, desiring change.. than actually getting up and proactively changing something about their situation – creating something happy and fulfilling.
You were not brought on this earth to do the same stuff for 80 years, you were not born to love the same things for 80 years. You were born to constantly create yourself, to evolve, to reinvent yourself day by day – year by year. To always embody what you desire most, to always be fulfilled and happy with who you are and what you do.
Resolve yourself from the chains which are holding you back, they are just created by your mind, by your ego. They are not real.
Also: stop feeling guilty. For quitting a job, for ending a relationship, for moving away from your hometown. Stop feeling guilty for becoming who you want to be. Stop feeling guilty for peeling away some layers and creating new ones, ones that will serve you better on your journey.
How do you reinvent yourself?
Learn new things, read books, talk to people, study what every grabs your interest, travel, get creative, try out everything, start a new hobby, change what needs to be change, stop doing what no longer serves you, free yourself from anything and anyone that is having a negative impact on yourself. Take back your power and explore yourself, life and this world. Find out what makes you happy, find out what sets your soul on fire – do more of those things, do them with all of your heart. Step back into the present moment.
You have so many layers that you can peel away a few, and everyone is so shocked or impressed that you are baring your soul, while to you it’s nothing, because you know you have twenty more layers to go. – Craig Thompson
